An Awkward Grimace by Molly Bosley

The art of scherenschnitte or papercut pieces is practiced by those dexterous (and calm) enough to create details with a sharp blade. Molly Bosley is one such artist who relies on her subconscious to provide impetus for her finely wrought narratives. Bosley manipulates her dreams into scissorcut scenes where faces are blank, but emotion is present. Silhouette images from plain paper tell stories that stem from both life and the imagination, a world of crabs, sailing ships, smoky pipes and typewriters, not to mention bearded fellows, mushroom caps and love.
